Parathyroid Laboratory and Pathology Team

After your surgery, the abnormal parathyroid gland is submitted to the pathology department for microscopic analysis.  This helps confirm the diagnosis of a parathyroid adenoma.  The pathology and laboratory team at the New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery also works with the surgical team to monitor your parathyroid hormone level intraoperatively and conduct your rapid intraoperative parathyroid hormone test (IOPTH) to make sure that your PTH level drops after removal of the parathyroid adenoma.
