Florida Parathyroid Surgeons
The New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery is the premier center for minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. Whether you are from Tallahassee or Jacksonville , we operate on patients from Florida and all throughout the United States. We are located approximately one hour north of Manhattan in the scenic Warwick Valley. This calm environment lends itself well to healing and recuperation after your surgery. We perform an advanced mini-incision technique that leads to a smaller scar, less operative time, and enables you to go home the same day as your surgery. Our advanced parathyroid imaging techniques lead to the profession's highest parathyroid localization rates. We focus on only one type of surgery: Parathyroid Surgery. This enables us to maintain our superior results while providing personalized care for each and every patient we treat.
Effective FL Parathyroid Treatment
No drugs or medications can cure hyperparathyroidism. The only way to treat parathyroid disease is to remove the parathyroid gland surgically. With a traditional parathyroid operation, a long neck incision is required. Then the surgeon examines the four parathyroid glands located behind the thyroid. The tumorous gland that is overproducing parathyroid hormone is then found and removed. With this technique, the patient is left with scarring on neck. Recovery takes longer, and the patient usually require at least a night of hospitalization.
Performed as an outpatient procedure, Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery requires just a one-inch incision. Preoperative parathyroid imaging and localization is what allows a minimally invasive or "mini-incision" approach to the procedure. By locating the the tumor before the incision with preoperative imaging, we can avoid a larger incision required by a traditional approach. The minimally invasive urgery can be completed in less than half an hour, with just a 2cm incision made directly over the abnormal parathyroid gland.
You'll find that scarring is minimal and best of all, you can usually return home the same day. Following surgery, scar appearance improves over the next six months. In the end, most scars are light and difficult to indentify.
