Kentucky Parathyroid Surgeons
The New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery is the premier center for minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. Patients come to us from Kentucky - from Frankfort or Louisville - and everywhere in the United States. The scenic Warwick Valley, located about one hour north of Manhattan, lends itself to speedy recuperation following your parathyroid surgery. With our advanced mini-incision parathyroid surgical technique, you will experience less operative time and less neck scarring. Most patients leave the same day as their surgery. With our advanced parathyroid imaging techniques, we have some of the highest parathyroid localization rates in the profession. Parathyroid surgery is our primary focus. This enables us to provide and maintain superior results while providing each patient with personalized care.
Effective Kentucky Parathyroid Treatment
There are no drugs or medications that can cure hyperparathyroidism or parathyroid disease. The only way to treat the condition is to surgically remove the parathyroid gland that is overproducing parathyroid hormone. A traditional parathyroid operation requires a large neck incision to find and examine the four parathyroid glands located behind the thyroid. Once the tumorous gland is found, it is removed. In the end, the patient is left with a prominent neck scar. They will usually require at least a night of hospitalization in order to to recover.
Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery is an outpatient procedure requiring just a one-inch incision. The procedure can be performed in less than half an hour. Preoperative imaging and localization of the parathyroid tumor enables a minimally invasive or "mini-incision" approach to the surgery. Only a 2cm incision is made directly over the abnormal parathyroid gland. By finding the the tumor before the incision, we can avoid a traditional neck exploration and make a smaller incision.
In the end, scarring is minimal and best of all, patients can usually return home the same day.
