North Carolina Parathyroid Surgeons
The New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery is the premier center for minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. Whether you are from Raleigh or Charlotte , we operate on patients from North Carolina and all throughout the United States. We are located approximately one hour north of Manhattan in the scenic Warwick Valley. This calm environment lends itself well to healing and recuperation after your surgery. We perform an advanced mini-incision technique that leads to a smaller scar, less operative time, and enables you to go home the same day as your surgery. Our advanced parathyroid imaging techniques lead to the profession's highest parathyroid localization rates. We focus on only one type of surgery: Parathyroid Surgery. This enables us to maintain our superior results while providing personalized care for each and every patient we treat.
Effective North Carolina Parathyroid Treatment
There are no drugs or medications that can cure hyperparathyroidism or parathyroid disease. The only way to treat the condition is to surgically remove the parathyroid gland that is overproducing parathyroid hormone. A traditional parathyroid operation requires a large neck incision to find and examine the four parathyroid glands located behind the thyroid. Once the tumorous gland is found, it is removed. In the end, the patient is left with a prominent neck scar. They will usually require at least a night of hospitalization in order to to recover.
Performed as an outpatient procedure, Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery requires only a one-inch incision to the neck. Preoperative localization and imaging enables a minimally invasive or "mini-incision" approach to the surgery. By finding the the tumor before the incision is made, we can avoid a traditional neck exploration that requires a longer neck incision. Surgery can be completed in less than half an hour, with just a 2cm incision made directly over the abnormal parathyroid gland.
You can usually go home the same day, and you'll have minimal scarring. Scar appearance improves over the six months after surgery. In the end, many scars are difficult to see.
