South Carolina Parathyroid Surgeons
The New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery is the premier center for minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. Whether you are from Columbia or Manning , we operate on patients from South Carolina and all throughout the United States. We are located approximately one hour north of Manhattan in the scenic Warwick Valley. This calm environment lends itself well to healing and recuperation after your surgery. We perform an advanced mini-incision technique that leads to a smaller scar, less operative time, and enables you to go home the same day as your surgery. Our advanced parathyroid imaging techniques lead to the profession's highest parathyroid localization rates. We focus on only one type of surgery: Parathyroid Surgery. This enables us to maintain our superior results while providing personalized care for each and every patient we treat.
Effective South Carolina Parathyroid Treatment
Because no drugs or medications can cure hyperparathyroidism or parathyroid disease, surgery is the only available way to treat the condition. The only known cure is to remove the parathyroid gland which is overproducing parathyroid hormone. The traditional parathyroid operative technique requires a large neck incision to locate and examine the four parathyroid glands located behind the thyroid. Once found, the tumorous gland is removed. The patient is left with a prominent neck scar. Recovery is slower as well. The patient will generally require at least one night of hospitalization.
Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery is an outpatient procedure that requires only a one-inch incision and can be performed in less than half an hour. Preoperative parathyroid imaging and localization of the abnormal parathyroid tumor enables a minimally invasive or "mini-incision" approach to the parathyroid glands. Finding the tumor before incision allows us to make a smaller incision without the need to do a traditional neck exploration. A 2cm incision is made directly over the abnormal parathyroid gland.
You'll find that scarring is minimal and best of all, you can usually return home the same day. Following surgery, scar appearance improves over the next six months. In the end, most scars are light and difficult to indentify.
