Texas Parathyroid Surgeons

The New York Center for Advanced Parathyroid Surgery is the premier center for minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. Patients come to us from all over Texas - from Austin to Houston - and throughout the United States. Located about one hour north of Manhattan, the Warwick Valley's serene environment lends itself to quick recuperation following your parathyroid surgery. Our advanced mini-incision surgical technique leads to less operative time, less scarring, and enables most patients leave the same day as their surgery. With our advanced parathyroid imaging techniques, we have some of the highest parathyroid localization rates in the profession. Because parathyroid surgery is our primary focus, we maintain superior results while providing each patient with personalized care.

Effective Texas Parathyroid Treatment

Because no drugs or medications can cure hyperparathyroidism or parathyroid disease, surgery is the only available way to treat the condition. The only known cure is to remove the parathyroid gland which is overproducing parathyroid hormone. The traditional parathyroid operative technique requires a large neck incision to locate and examine the four parathyroid glands located behind the thyroid. Once found, the tumorous gland is removed. The patient is left with a prominent neck scar. Recovery is slower as well. The patient will generally require at least one night of hospitalization.

Performed as an outpatient procedure, Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery requires just a one-inch incision. Preoperative parathyroid imaging and localization is what allows a minimally invasive or "mini-incision" approach to the procedure. By locating the the tumor before the incision with preoperative imaging, we can avoid a larger incision required by a traditional approach. The minimally invasive urgery can be completed in less than half an hour, with just a 2cm incision made directly over the abnormal parathyroid gland.

In the end, you'll have minimal neck scarring and best of all, you can usually go home the same day.
